It’s funny, as I’m posting this little painting to the shop I am realizing how literal what I thought was just fanciful about this painting actually is…
Perspective is gold. This was the view from my living room window which overlooked the Basilica and the only cemetery left in San Francisco. I had originally painted a fully representaional interpretation of the scene. But that much description bores me these days. So I decided to have fun, to add elements from inspiration and impulse. A full black moon and a spirit?? Seems like I painted the unseen representation of the place.
